Wrote my first program in FORTRAN when I was 9 years old and haven't looked back since. I am an open-source advocate and language agnostic: I'm happy to work in Java, C#, Python, or whatever it takes to get the job done.

I went to University of Delaware as a Eugene DuPont Memorial Distinguished Scholar, majoring in Computer and Information Sciences (although I briefly dabbled in journalism), but I've always learned more by writing my own code and working in the field than I ever learned in the classroom.

I am a diabetes cyborg. I am wired to an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor that keep me alive in tiny drips. I have had diabetes for over 20 years and I am amazed at the progress we've made. I'm now experimenting with my own "artificial pancreas" courtesy of the #OpenAPS project.
