Hi. I'm the publisher and co-founder of Ensia - an award-winning print and online magazine and events series covering global environmental challenges and solutions.

I'm also director of communications for the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. My areas of expertise include environmental communications, marketing, public relations, media relations, fundraising, infographic design, event management and presentation development.

In addition, I lead communications workshops and have developed an informative and slightly irreverent session - "Fight the Power(point)!" - for scientists and others wishing to become better presenters. I've delivered well-received personal and professional talks at TEDx along with conferences in the U.S. and Europe, and I regularly consult corporations, non-profits, government agencies and academic departments on presentation design and development.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my wife, playing tennis, hiking, checking things off life lists and downhill skiing.
