Todd Berner is a medical professional specializing in the burgeoning fields of patient engagement and health economics. Through his work, he looks to incorporate the voice of the patient into medical policy and improve outcomes along the way. At his previous position as the Executive Medical Director at Astellas Scientific and Medical Affairs, he led efforts to generate and disseminate evidence centered around the voice of the patient. Through more groups that advocate for patients, Todd Berner hopes to create a more equal playing field between them, pharmaceutical companies, and the FDA. He is also interested in the benefits of gene editing and its implications for rare disease communities.

Additionally he serves as a Stakeholder Reviewer for Patient‑Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and as a co-chair of the Patient Engagement in Research Special Interest Group of International Society For Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.

As an active and influential member of ISPOR, Todd is able to help disseminate accurate uniform information in order to provide a proper education concerning the contemporary healthcare industry. By providing a wholesome and comprehensive portrait of the typical 'patient,' Todd Berner depicts patients as not just patients, but as people. In this light, he looks at healthcare costs outside of the traditional pharmaceutical approach, taking into account living costs, handicap costs, rent costs, and insurance costs among many other potential expenses.

Berner is a native of New York and went on to study SUNY Albany for his undergraduate studies. Outside of his career, he enjoys spending time with his wonderful family and is interested in keeping up with the US Mens National Soccer Team.
