I'm a board and card game producer, guilty of the titles Thunderstone, Nightfall, Smash Up, Love Letter, Legend of the Five Rings and many others.

I believe that the producer of a game is as important as the designer, as a designer's vision will never be truly communicated without the proper components, artistic vision, and overall package that is the final game. I feel that much like great artists of old said that block of stone knew what sculpture was inside it, a raw prototype of a game speaks what it should be in the end, and I find great fulfillment in bringing together that final work.

Whew that sounded pretty hoity-toity, I'm not that pretentious but that is what I really believe.
