Thomas M. Callahan

Thomas is a third-year J.D. at Fordham Law, in New York, with a strong interest in the former Soviet Union. He specializes in the intersection of federal regulation and international legal obligations, and in Russian law in particular. He is also the Executive Notes & Articles Editor of the Fordham International Law Journal, and will graduate in May 2016 with a concentration in international and comparative law.

Thomas is currently on the market for firm, in-house, consultancy, or public interest work in Moscow – especially in compliance, AML, and/or anti-corruption – following graduation from Fordham. His legal work experience to date centers on legislative, case, and treaty analysis and reporting for advocacy and consultancy. This includes work as a recipient of multiple fellowships to do rule of law work in Russia. He was also selected as one of Fordham Law's Crowley Scholars in International Human Rights Law in 2014.

He has published on dynamic areas of Russian law and advised, either alone or as part of a group, Western governments and agencies including the Political Section of the United States Embassy in Moscow on legal and political questions in Russia and the FSU. He speaks Russian at a high professional proficiency level and reads, including legal Russian, fluently.
