I started my career with Merrill Lynch in the late 60’s, where I founded their health industry financing group which specialized in providing funding to hospitals. In 1982 I founded American Health Capital, Inc. in partnership with Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA, the nations’ largest not-for-profit hospital group), the Mellon Bank, Aetna and Baxter where I pioneered the development of financial guarantees for hospitals through the Health Industry Bond Insurance Program, which completed $2.85 billion in funding.

I was the founder and CEO of VHA Enterprises where I oversaw the development and management of numerous health care service businesses, including Partners National Health Plans, a managed care joint venture with Aetna, as well as companies involved with home health care, nursing homes, retirement center development and management, mobile diagnostics, and physician services.
