Thomas Weber
I'm a postdoctoral scholar researching ocean biogeochemistry In the Deutsch group at the University of Washington. I use mathematical models to understand and predict the interaction of marine microbrial ecosystems, ocean chemisty and the global carbon cycle. My PhD dissertation focused on the elemental composition of phytoplankton, and feedbacks between the sources and sinks of fixed nitrogen to/from the ocean. Current research interests include bacterial communities of the "dark ocean" and nitrogen cycling in oxygen minimum zones. I am also passionate about the communication of science, both between peers and to the public. I am constantly trying to improve how I present and write about my research.
