I am a performing musician and academic. I was awarded my Ph.D. in Music in 2017 for a thesis examining the effects of technology on blues music and blues culture. My teaching and blues advocacy includes workshops, seminars, lectures and recitals delivered to learning institutions in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.
As a guitarist and singer I perform solo, with an acoustic duo, and as part of an electric band. My solo acoustic work includes my own original Blues compositions and has led to performances at major music festivals around Europe, including major stages at the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, and Blues Autour Du Zinc.
I have completed tours and appearances in Europe, the United States and Russia. My national media appearances in the UK and mainland Europe include performances and documentaries for the BBC.
My writing is regularly featured in specialist music publications including Blues In Britain magazine, and my original research papers and book reviews are published in several international peer-reviewed journals.
I am a passionate fan of UK science-fiction series Doctor Who, and was a founding contributor to the Doctor Who Podcast.
