Tom Cannavo
Buffalo New York United States
A father of two, an inspirational little league coach, a volunteer to a number of community endeavors, all the while a lawyer, Tom Cannavo lives in Buffalo and is no stranger to the trials and tribulation of hard work and the dedicated drive to both lead and serve. Attending the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Canisius College, both Roman Catholic institutions in Buffalo, New York founded upon the sempiternal principles of loyalty, faith, dedication, and service, Tom found the beginning to his generous lifestyle, and the launchpad to everything beyond. He becomes involved in all that he does, serving in positions ranging from Vice President of the alumni board for St. Joseph’s, to his more recent pursuits rekindling the old flame with the Knights of Columbus, the world’s most connected Catholic fraternal organization. Tom has been a part of the Knights, based around its loyal service to humanity, since he was a kid. Where he used to serve, he now leads as well; there, Tom used to play basketball himself, but has since handed down the torch to his sons who have taken his place on the court.
Tom stays active not only to remind himself of the importance of his contributions to society, but to develop a positive image for his children whom he hopes to rear with similarly magnanimous dispositions. The family and the fraternity are held together by the stitching of good education and strong leadership.
Today, long removed from school, he continues his academic contribution by serving on the academic board, specifically the finance committee of St. Mark’s preparatory school where his sons attend, and has lead and overseen talks seeking to reform contracts within the teacher’s union. Outside of the school, Tom maintains a loyal relationship with the Society of the Holy Name which contributes to the community by reiterating important Catholic and civil values among members within and without through conferences, discussions, and activities of many kinds. With all his commitments pulling him in different directions, Tom manages his responsibilities and remains a vital champion of the Buffalo community.
