The Oswego Area has a wide variety of affordable housing options for income eligible families, individuals and veterans who are looking to rent in safe and secure rental units such as single-family homes, apartments, condominiums and townhomes. These federally assisted housing programs are run by Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) on behalf of HUD and include Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, project-based Section 8 contracts, public housing, USDA Rental Assistance in Section 515 properties and HUD Section 202 and 811 properties for elderly and disabled households.

Transitional Housing - The Affordable Care Act created a new category of low-income rental assistance called “transitional” housing that is intended to help people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless find permanent housing. It can be a temporary step to securing a permanent housing solution, but it can also be a long-term commitment to self-sufficiency.
