Thomas Hemmings
HI, I'm Thomas Hemmings.
For the last 5 years I have been working various jobs that relate to Information Technology. In 2005 I started working for Johnstone's Retravision (Balclutha) and gained a lot of information regarding electronics and marketing. In 2008 I also started working at Ryder's Paper Plus (Balclutha) part time during weekends. At the start of 2009 I moved on in my career and started a job more suited to my interests and skills. At Computer Solutions and Training (Balclutha) my knowledgebase increased dramatically as I spent my time fixing computer with everything from malware problems to hardware diagnostics and assisting wireless and satellite internet installations(Pictured left is myself after a satellite install).
Mid way through 2009 I decided to advance my career and attempt to get a degree in the IT sector. At the end of 2009 I came out with a Certificate in Information Technology from The Otago Polytechnic and decided to go on and start The Bachelor of Information Technology at Otago Polytechnic. From 2010 onwards I have been studying this degree; it brings many challenges and stress, but this all helps my expanding skill set become more applicable as I study.
My current skill set includes:
- Programming Knowledge in Java, Delphi and Pascal
- HTML and web design
- Mysql database creation and design
- Network Maintenance and design (Cisco CCNA1 and CCNA2)
- Hardware and Software diagnostics
- Professional presentations and proposals in a business environment
My current interests and activities are:
- Running Arch Linux and Linux from scratch
- Mod and map making for games using the unreal 3 and source engine
- Programming in Java (Currently working on a basic text based rpg)
