Tomi Davies

I’m a business leader, board director and advisor with over three decades of outstanding experience building large-scale, national and region-wide IT, mobile, EdTech and ICT enabled infrastructure projects impacting millions of lives across Africa.

My professional career began in the 1980s largely in technology systems management for FTSE 100 level companies including Elf Aquitaine (now TOTAL), where I cut my teeth as an IT professional, Marks & Spencer, where I really learnt how to manage people, Ernst & Young, where I caught the startup incubation bug during the dot-com bubble and Sapient where I discovered the real power of software.

I invest, mentor and focus on developing the African technology start-ups, co-working spaces, incubators, accelerators, business angels and venture capital ecosystem by increasing entrepreneur & investor capacity and enabling supporting policies. Over the last decade I have looked after a growing portfolio of Africa-based tech-enabled early stage businesses and am the Founder of the Lagos Angel Network (LAN). I am also President of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN).

I maintain a significant network of connections globally including on most major social media platforms and as an inspiring thought leader my personal goal is "maximizing the creation of social and economic value using technology innovatively". In 2014, I chose to translate this passion for practical application of technology into my book “The African Project Manager” Createspace (Amazon), 2014

My diverse experience is being leveraged by organisations for advisory services, paid speaking engagements and non- executive board roles at companies like MBO Capital Limited (Private Equity), TextNigeria Limited (Telecoms) and Sproxil Nigeria (Anti-Counterfeit Technologies). I am a volunteer to a number of non-profit organizations and Guest lecturer at the Pan Atlantic University's Enterprise Development Centre.
