I m Tomi and I am a singer/writer. I started writing when I was fourteen. Took years of piano lessons as a child... used the piano as a tool for writing. Bi-racial and, yes I am part of the group known more n more these days as THE THIRD ROOT. West Coast native, raised in Watts by way of the Flats... hee, hee. Left for New York to, yes, follow my dream... sang backup with SKY KING for two months at a very young age. Auditioned for the Late GREAT Solomon Burke and got the gig! Toured with him for several months. He was the best! He would always tell me "Tomi...SING OUT BABY GIRL!" You really got to cherish every single moment in time. ~ and, keep a clear n free mind....let's see ...I got married, pregnant and settled down... for a while. Gave the dream-thing up for a bit. No...life hasn't been easy...but, through it all I wouldn't change one single thing. Years have gone by and time hasn't stopped and the things that I am so grateful for are many...and, one of them is that I "still" held on to my dream. I will never consider it a dead dream ... ever again. So... I was speaking to the incense man, today, coming out of the 99 cents store, he's always there. He greeted me by name and, then preceded to drop some pearls on me, His theory was strong, and was one, that I have longed to know better and to be able to work more in my life with each day and it was a simple one... "it was to believe ... and to continue to have faith in what it is I believe in." So... if I were to share a lesson that I have learned in my life, it would be ... that I want to walk in perfect harmony and choose only to love, and to look for love first in any situation I find myself in but then I am, without a doubt, a work in progress and GOD is my master, my all and all and, 'LOVE'.
