Tom Janssen
Utrecht, the Netherlands
I am fascinated by humankind and how she inhabits the earth, able to find her way in every landscape, modelling it in a shape she deems fit.
Admiring nature, but also the way buildings are designed, cities are planned, the landscape altered. How tiny we are between all this, but so immensely influential.
I'm astonished that we only look but don't see. We have become too used to the human habitat. Only places and buildings that are radically different are still able to draw our attention.
I take distance, observe the mundane. Show exactly those places that we would normally neglect. Confronting humankind with herself and her environment, but above all, letting her look in a different way to the constructed space we live in.
