Thomas Cancalosi

Oakland, NJ

Hi! My name is Tommy Cancalosi and I am from North Jersey. I am currently a sophomore student at UMass Amherst studying Sport Management at the Isenberg School of Management.

Ever since I was a young boy, my passion has always been baseball. I think it all started the day I was born because that was the exact same day that Joe Carter hit a walk-off home run to win the World Series for the Blue Jays in 1993. Since that day, baseball has always been a part of who I am. My father is a high school baseball coach so I still remember going to watch his practices when I was very little. From those practices all the way up to high school, baseball has played a major role in shaping who I am today. I could not imagine my life without the game.

That is why I plan to pursue a career in professional baseball. Although I know it is a difficult field to get in to, I am very determined and I will do whatever it takes to make it in the baseball industry. My ultimate goal is to eventually become a General Manager for a Major League team.

In the past I have worked for the New York Yankees as a coach in their summer camps. I worked alongside professional baseball scouts who taught me a lot about the game. Hopefully I can take what I have already learned and improve on that. I hope to get an internship this summer within a baseball organization and continue with my journey into the baseball world.
