You can find my music writing on thequietus.com by clicking the links below, or at your local newsagents every month in Iron Fist and Metal Hammer, where my work is published under the name Tom Cooksey.

I recently began writing about the metal scene from an academic perspective, with my first essay published in Volume one of the journal Metal Music Studies, with a paper on spiritual aspects of doom metal due to be presented at a conference in Helsinki later this year, as well as another forthcoming chapter on the future of metal, again due to be published later in the year.

I don't just listen to metal, I just mostly listen to metal.

I also write scripts, and have experience in various platforms- Advertising, Film, Radio and TV. I was awarded the Matt Greenhalgh (BAFTA award winning writer of Control and Nowhere Boy) award for my feature-length screenplay 'Empress', considered by UCLAN to be the best script written by an MA student in the academic year 2011/2012.

I have experience writing in a variety of genres, but science fiction is my thing. A good story should consume you whilst being consumed and then consume your thoughts for days after.

I am currently writing my first commissioned screenplay for a production company, with a completion date of early 2015.
