Tom Wolfe

Alright, alright, here we go -- I will make it brief:
I am a... journalist and writer -- but you know that already! Unless you have not read a newspaper or seen a television in the last few decades, you know exactly who I am! ...I am THE man of the 80s and 90s, hero and the talk of the City (or at least I used to be before they invented Internet...): yours truly and a few little articles, essays and books that I happen to write...

I see you smile, there goes that chuckle. Writing about self is somewhat amusing, lest one starts treating it seriously... That said, just hold on to your seats -- here's what some serious people dared to write about me:

"...Novelist and journalist Tom Wolfe spent his early days as a Washington Post beat reporter, where his free-association, onomatopoetic style would later become the trademark of New Journalism."

"...best modern and, alas, maybe the last true CLASSIC of American prose"

Oh, and how about this:

"...His attention to eccentricities of human behavior and language and to questions of social status are considered unparalleled in the American literary canon. "

So I guess, you got the idea -- I like to observe the world around me and write about what I see...

But enough about me, I will let you run. Oh, and don't forget to pick up a book or two of mine -- I promise you will enjoy the reading, well, I hope at least as much as I enjoyed writing them. I recommend you start with "The Bonfire of the Vanities" -- it's an easy read, and so much fun -- you won't be able to put it down until you're through at least a good quarter of the book...
