Tony Bowers

I grew up on the Southside of Chicago, more specifically, the Grand Crossing neighborhood. My early stories grew from my imagination as I rolled in the grass of Grand Crossing Park.

I was forged there. The cracks in its concrete are my veins. The boom and the bam of its Friday nights are my heartbeat. The tears dropped; my blood.

When I write, and now publish, I pull from the fertile grounds laid out from 79th street to 63rd. Not all the stories will be about the neighborhood. But they will have that same bare-knuckled, seldom pretty, but always-genuine attitude. The neighborhood is talking. Are you listening?
