Small Business Owner in San Diego, California

I am the founder and executive director of a San Diego-based company offering grant writing, fundraising and related development services to nonprofit organizations. Our clients offer permanent affordable housing, transitional housing, emergency shelters, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, employment training and other comprehensive supports for homeless and formerly homeless persons with diverse special needs.

I am also a proud representative and benficiary of generous support from Challenged Athletes Foundation, which provides sports training, adaptive equipment and other assistance around the world to athletes for whom there is no such thing as disability. I am proud every day of my minor achievements, but prouder still to be part of a community of athletes and supporters who help and inspire so many people to overcome the obstacles life puts in front of them.

I blog regularly at The Huffington Post and have taught at universities in China and Mexico. My wife and I are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters who are old enough to be left home alone for extended periods. Life is good.
