Tonya Dunn

With a background in teaching that spans several Texas communities in the Greater Houston area, Tonya Dunn most recently taught English and language arts (ELA) to fourth and fifth graders within the Klein Independent School District (ISD), where she was recognized as a teacher of the year. Tonya Dunn also has served as an elementary ELA teacher with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and Friendswood ISD.
Ms. Dunn began college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and pursued studies in design. She subsequently completed a BS in reading and English elementary education at the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
During her undergraduate years, Ms. Dunn engaged with at-risk youth to assist them in improving their communication abilities and reorient them on focused life paths. She also helped them to develop leadership skills and gain confidence.
Tonya Dunn’s favorite activities include decorating and home design, and she swims and gardens regularly. She is trained in SCUBA diving and enjoys traveling when she has the chance.
