Tonya Evans

Tonya Evans Mundy, also known as Tonya Evans, is a tireless advocate for military families. Currently, Ms. Evans focuses her efforts on establishing a memorial for those who have fallen in service during the War on Terror as co-founder and CEO of the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation. In addition, Ms. Evans maintains an e-commerce portal, AmericanHeroHugs.com, selling keepsakes for children whose parents are deployed overseas.

Through the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation, Ms. Evans is dedicated to erecting a memorial to the soldiers who have given their lives while deployed in the Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom, plus all related military activities in the War on Terror. The memorial, designed by architect Norman Schwartz, will feature a massive United States flag as a stunning visual centerpiece. Ms. Evans also leads the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation’s site selection, and has narrowed the search down to the northeastern region of Kansas.

Tonya Evans keeps the needs of children close at heart with her business AmericanHeroHugs.com. After realizing that the young children of service members deployed overseas may not have a clear memory of their parents, Ms. Evans and her longtime friend and business partner started the company to help children hold onto memories of their mothers or fathers. An image of the parent is laser imprinted on a pillow, teddy bear or nightlight as a keepsake children can cherish.

Before embarking on these endeavors, Tonya Evans enjoyed a successful sales career spanning 20 years. Presently, Ms. Evans resides in Lawrence, Kansas, and enjoys photography and spending time with her three children. Ms. Evans has donated many hours to volunteering and community service through her church and other local organizations, keeping a focus on groups that serve children and families.
