Torin Douglas was the BBC’s media correspondent for 24 years and has reported on media issues for over 40 years. He wrote regularly for The Times, the Independent, the Economist and Campaign, and presented LBC Radio's media show, Advertising World, for five years. After working for the Independent Broadcasting Authority, he was one of the founding editors of Marketing Week and the launch editor of Creative Review.
He now speaks, writes and chairs events for a range of media, arts and academic organisations. These include the Radio Academy, the Voice of the Listener & Viewer, the Radiocentre, the Royal Television Society, the IPPR, MediaTel, the Guardian, Media Business Insight, Warwick University, the National Theatre and the Clore Leadership Programme. He's a trustee of the Sandford St Martin Trust, which promotes excellence in religious broadcasting, and treasurer and former chair of the Broadcasting Press Guild.
Torin has an Honorary Doctorate of Literature from the University of West London and was visiting professor in media at the University of Bedfordshire. He is a Fellow of the Communications Advertising and Marketing (CAM) Foundation and the author of The Complete Guide to Advertising (Macmillan).
He was awarded the MBE in 2013 for services to the community in Chiswick, where he has organised a range of cultural events. He is director of the Chiswick Book Festival.
