Shrieking, mangled ideas are rushed past me on stretchers by frantic nurses. “Chaos! Havoc! Maelstrom!” Cries one of the surgeons, “Words! Sentence structure! I before E except after C! Words, damn it, put word to it”. Why won’t that infernal surgeon shut up? The idea to my right babbles about some lonesome childhood memory of being left in the rain, the one to my left is in hysterics over a tall, brown haired senior. I crack my knuckles and rack my brain to find an accurate diagnosis for these lunatic. One is obviously heartbroken, the next is nostalgic, and the other is overwhelmed, etc. I clear my throat and with the agility and precision of a diamond blade administer cures, injecting the ideas with sense, order, and sending them back to the forsaken cortex they came from. Some ideas trigger other thoughts and queries, they need to be dissected and analyzed, but most of the time ideas merely need a dose of perspective or to be rationalized. I am the doctor of these broken thoughts, I gently nurse them back to health only to shove them onto the harsh judgment of pen and paper. Hypocrisy at its finest.
