I am a native Texan, and contrary to popular belief, I do not own a horse or a cowboy hat, but I do have a pair of killer cowboy boots. I grew up along the Texas-Mexico border and cherish my bicultural heritage. I have yet to see a sunset more beautiful than the ones over the Río Grande river.
My day job is with a global insurance company where I lead strategic business initiatives. Previously, I managed the product development function to launch life, retirement and health products and spearheaded a sales and marketing strategy to multicultural markets. I served as Chief of Staff to the President & CEO of a major division and was responsible for agent, consumer and executive communications. I have worked on international greenfield opportunities in Asia and Africa. Earlier in my career, I worked for non-profits in educational reform.
My husband is both a comfort and an inspiration to me. I am a better person because of him. We like to travel and connect with people from all over the world. Besides English, I am fluent in Spanish and studying Mandarin. Writing and photography are my creative outlets, which I pursue through my blog.
Recently, I joined the Board of Directors of MECA, Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts. You can learn more about them using the Support My Charity link above.
