I currently serve as the social media community manager and editor at the National Marine Educators Association and am pursuing a doctoral degree in educational technology at the University of Delaware. Previously, I worked as the academic marketing and communications manager for Delaware Valley University and was the marine outreach specialist for University of Delaware's College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment and the Delaware Sea Grant College Program.
I graduated with a master's degree in online journalism from the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism in May 2004. As part of my coursework, I covered the biotechnology and gene research beats and did general assignment reporting for Maryland Newsline, an online publication that is part of the school's new media lab.
My work has been carried in over 25 publications, including The Baltimore Sun, The Miami Herald, The Kansas City Star, FOX News and Science Communication.
I currently live in Berlin, Md., where I spend my free time hiking, biking, beachcombing, kayaking, and riding with my husband, two dogs, and one very large horse.
