"I am a journalist who covers politics, not a politician." ~ Tracey C. O'Neill

The Five W’s

Although a native of New York, I grew up in New England due to family ties to the region, thereby establishing my love for the ocean and coastal environment.

I hold a M.A. in New Media Journalism and B.S. in Paralegal Studies, both earned online before digital learning was a popular commodity. My educational journey was most definitely foundational assist in making the transition to digital journalism.

The Craft

A writer by trade from days past, I spent many years plying my craft in the legal, financial and government sectors. My writing naturally progressed into a passion for journalism and pursuit of a Master's degree with concentration in climate change, green energy and the effects on coastal communities.

As a journalist and reporter, I worked for several print newspapers and online media outlets, covering all aspects of community reporting. I developed a “knack,” good or bad, for uncovering community issues and bringing the day's news to a different level.

Also foundational, in working as an Emergency Preparedness Consultant in Minority Health I identified and reported issues presented by vulnerable and at-risk populations. I assisted in development and implementation of emergency and first responder initiatives, protocols and workflows that ensured fair treatment for all regardless of socio-economic status.

On Religion

I subscribe to religion in its gentlest form and believe that every individual deserves the absolute right to choose his or her own form of worship.

On Politics

The Constitutional rights bestowed upon the citizens of the United States of America are sacrosanct. The rights to Privacy, a Free Press, Free Speech and Religious Freedom are resolute.

Unaffiliated by choice, my politics are mostly left-leaning, more progressive, less conservative and unabashedly independent. I have always believed that politics aren’t as important as the people represented.
