Tracey Lam

During Tracey's career as the captain of the Rice University's volleyball team, she shattered numerous school and league records. She was named Conference USA's Libéro of the Year twice, nominated for the Lowe's Senior Class Award, and selected to be on ESPN's Academic All-District VI First Team. As of 2011, Tracey's record of 1,701 digs has not been challenged in Rice volleyball history.

Since graduating with a 3.75 GPA in Economics and Asian Studies, Tracey has invested her energy and skills inside the classroom working with young children. Determination is one of the most important life lessons she gained from her experience as a student-athlete. It has translated to her current work in education — a field she has found challenging but emotionally fulfilling.

Another interest of Tracey's is the study of languages. She grew up learning fluent Chinese — Mandarin and Cantonese — from her parents, bits of Vietnamese from relatives. Tracey is almost fluent in Japanese and can speak conversational Spanish. Just recently, she learned beginner's Korean because she hopes to impress the staff at her favorite restaurant.
