Tracy Howl was born in Wolverhampton in 1971, and has been living and working as a Professional Photographer in London since 1992. She studied Contemporary Media Practice at University of Westminster and has taught photography in several FE colleges.
An Abstract, Documentary, Landscape and Portrait photographer challenging the boundaries of reality and colour perception and what is possible with film manipulation & digital.
Photojournalism and Travel photography are Tracy’s main passions. She has over 25 years professional experience as a Commercial Photographer. Her work is published internationally and is held in private collections in Europe, Middle East, US and Australasia.
Tracy was crowned International Freelance Photographer in the Lux 2020 Travel & Tourism Awards, Commended in the Urban category of Landscape Photographer of the Year 2017, and runner up in Corporate Event Photographer of the Year 2016.
She was also shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait prize 2014 exhibiting at National Portrait Gallery and won the London Photography Award in 2010. She exhibits her work often, mostly in London although she has exhibited in Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Brighton, Barcelona and Tokyo.
Music photography has opened doors to film and video. She has art directed several music videos and show-reels for up and coming bands as well as being DOP for Independent Short Films and Documentaries.
She is a big fan of old processes and techniques and regularly experiments with film in her abstract/fine art photography also using different media including Film, Video and Projection in her personal work.
