Tracy Lee Simmons

A graduate of the University of Oxford in England, Tracy Lee Simmons earned a master of arts in classics, the study of Greek and Latin literature, history, and philosophy. Most recently, Tracy Lee Simmons most recently served as a Lecturer in Humanities at Lynchburg College.
Previously, Mr. Simmons spent 11 years as the founding chair of the Dow Program in American Journalism at Hillsdale College. An accomplished writer and journalist, Mr. Simmons was a regular contributor to the Washington Post Book World for more than a decade, and he has served as an associate editor and contributor with the National Review since 1993.
A former member of the American Philological Society and the Association of Literary Scholars and Critics, Mr. Simmons received a Choice Award for his book Climbing Parnassus: A New Apologia for Greek and Latin. Additional professional accolades include the 2005 Paideia Prize from the Center for Independent Research on Classical Education (CiRCE) Institute for a lifetime of contributions to classical education.
