My two strengths that mean the most to me are my positivity and my communication. To me, my positivity means that I'm optimistic and I'm always looking how I can make a situation better, and my communication skills means that I'm easy to talk to and I'm good at understanding others. I identify with these strengths the most because they have a huge effect on my personality. These strengths help my social life by helping me to be outgoing and help me make new friends. My strengths help my academic career because I am able to persevere when things get hard and I'm not afraid to ask for help.
One of the activities we did in survey class was curriculum planning. We got a list of the classes we have to take to get into our major and laid them out on a calendar to see what we need to schedule the next two years. I think it was extremely helpful to get an idea of what classes I will be taking in the future and mentally prepare for what my next couple of semesters will consist of. We also watched a presentation about the general education classes we need to take, which was helpful to help us which gen eds pertain to our majors and which can count as more than one. This is helpful because it helps me choose which gen eds make the most sense for me to take.
Another activity we did in survey class was My Ohio State Tradition. Before we went to class we had to write about our favorite Ohio State tradition and what it means to us. I wrote about singing Carmen Ohio, it is my favorite tradition because it makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger. Then in class we watched a presentation about the different traditions of Ohio State and that they're important because they connect current buckeyes with alumni. Then we did an activity where we had to guess the tradition based on a list of clues. This session will help me in the future because knowing about the traditions will help me stay connect with current and new buckeyes.
