Marius Scutea
Adelaide, South Australia
My greatest achievement by a long shot: my beautiful family, my lovely wife Laura, an established opera singer with over 300 concerts across Europe under her belt, and our 5 year old son, a hyper-active, outdoor-loving, fast runner, and fastest bicycle rider boy Gabriel, who is also a future bus, rubbish truck, train, and tram driver.
Gabriel was born in Australia in the excellent vintage year of 2009, my good self and Laura have an Eastern European background.
We’ve been living in Adelaide South Australia – more precisely Hallett Cove - for the last 8 years, that’s since Laura came to Australia, I lived in Adelaide for the last 19 years.
We both have been brought up in Transylvania, both within close knit families, being taught and reinforced strong family values.
We are Orthodox Christians, however we were educated to respect and value all other religions and all other people no matter what the colour of their skin.
Laura loves traditional cooking, and she practices it every day of the week, apart from Sunday which is mainly reserved for rest.
We’ve got our own large veggie patch, we make our own preserves like sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables, just as our parents and grandparents used to do it.
We also make our own jams, with fruit we pick mostly from the Adelaide Hill from places like Hahndorf and Littlehampton, we make our own tomato sauce with organic tomatoes from Tony Scarfo, also from Adelaide Hills
We raise our own chickens, we feed them organically, and they supply us the eggs we need and the occasional meat.
We greatly enjoy baking our own bread, pizza dough, and other the traditional cozonac.
We bought our own cow shares, so we make our own cheese. I love making my own mozzarella, cottage cheese, and I milk kefir and grow milk kefir grains.
We try and eliminate as many chemicals as possible from our environment, from what we eat, from what we drink and from what we breathe.
We are a quiet family, we love to spend most of our spare time outdoors, either our backyard or down the Hallett Cove or Seacliff Beach, and we also love watching the sea from our chaise longs on the balcony.
