Calanoc began training in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 5 and continued his training in Filipino Martial Arts under his uncle. He then discovered the art of Ten Chi Jin Ninpo Taijutsu, a traditional Japanese martial art. Long ago the people who trained in Ninpo were known as “Ninja”. Calanoc continued his fight training in Tulsa, OK under Mikey Burnett, a former member of the Lion’s Den. After the events of September 11, 2011, Calanoc enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and became one of the few black belts in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) at the B.A. TOW Unit. He then trained under his Staff Sgt. at the school he opened where he ultimately fought his very first pro fight. After his fight, Calanoc opened his own gym, UnderDawgs Fight Center. After the successful opening of his gym, Calanoc got back into fighting and founded of his own system Calanoc Mixed Martial Arts Concepts (CMMAC).
