Coach in Washington, DC

Thirteen years of athlete/player development has prepared Travis Coleman to make any athlete successful. While coordinating and conducting the Strength & Conditioning programs for all 17 Intercollegiate teams at Division I Howard University in 2006, Coleman worked very closely with the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs. In 2010 he went to China to coach professionally in the China Basketball Association (CBA). This lead to opportunities to work with the China National Basketball Team, and the China National Basketball League (NBL). Within two years of moving to China Travis became a fluent speaker of Mandarin. While anchoring the Strength & Conditioning programs for each team, every season his duties constantly evolved. During Coleman's first two seasons in the CBA Men's league with the Liaoning Basketball Club, he handled the basketball skill development of the young/inexperienced players, as well as recruiting NBA free agent players to fill the team's two import player roster slots. In his third season, Travis moved to the Women's China Basketball Association (WCBA) becoming the first foreigner in history to coach with the much-heralded Chinese Army team, Bayi. With Bayi, his duties expanded to on-court coaching during practice, scouting of opponents, and defensive game plan coordination with the Head Coach. In Coleman's fourth season abroad he worked with the China National Women's Olympic Basketball Team, helping them to an appearance in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. A job with the NBL Shaanxi Xinda followed, where his position encompassed all of the aforementioned skills obtained throughout his coaching career. Upon return to the US he landed a position for two years as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for Towson University Women's Basketball, Women's Soccer, Women's Golf and Baseball team. Following his stint with TU, Coleman became the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at IDEA Public Charter School in Washington, DC. Travis Coleman is co-founder of Capitol City STEAM Sports, founder & vision holder of XODUS Sports Performance, (non-profit, sports-based youth development and educational organization in Washington, D.C.), and founder of two technology companies, Licci (wearable technology) & DOJO (sports performance data analytics app).
