Travis Shortt

I began my career in broadcasting working with both WDIC and WAXM radio as an on-air personality. After four years I worked my way into sales while simultaneously pursuing my college degree. While in college I worked for the Department of Media Studies and began learning video production. I received my degree in Communication from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
In 1993 Imet and formed a long-lasting personal and professional relationship with Charlie McCracken. In 1995 both Charlie and I were employed by the same firm to handle marketing/public relations and creative production respectively. In 1997 we formed our own firm, Digital Edge Productions, which evolved into ADVANTURE Media in 2001.
In 2003, Charlie and I again embarked on another venture. Liquidating our shares in ADVANTURE and launching Black River Media and Black River Films to pursue our own projects. From 2003 until 2007 Black River continued to provide media consulting and production services to a variety of clients. In 2007, to assist another friend, I stepped away from Black River and assumed a position as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for an acute care hospital in need of re-branding and imaging. I returned to Black River in 2009 and helped facilitate the launch of several new service-lines and alliances with partner firms.
By 2010 I began laying the groundwork for a re-branding of Black River and the services they provided. That groundwork is now ASPYR Communications the leading communication, branding, imaging, and public relations firm on the market. With ASPYR I works with all clients on their positioning, language, imaging, and brand ownership.
