Travis Edwards

I am currently a freshman at Valdosta State University, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. My major is Anthropology, which I have now realized is not a very popular field here at Valdosta. I chose Anthropology as a major for my extreme intrigue in the different cultures of the world, and the fact that both my parents are history majors. I was surrounded by history growing up, and I grew to love it, and I also grew to love learning about different peoples around the world, so I combined my love for both, and out came the idea of Anthropology.

After University I plan to leave for the peace corps, and do two years of service for the organization, and afterwards I plan to go to graduate school, and get my masters in Forensic Anthropology (a sect of Anthropology with a focus on forensics), at a now unspecified University. I shall then work at the Smithsonian's in Washington D.C.

I have an immense passion for music. I am a guitarist of two years now, and have been studying music for the same amount of time. I believe music is a universal force that can not only make people connect with each other, but pit them agaisnt each other at the same time. It is never a static topic, and is always changing, therefore it is quite exciting to me, and I love that I can study it with no restrictions due to the extreme acess to information in today's world.

Attending an University (especially one as nice as VSU) has always been a dream of mine. As a child I watched a lot of movies, cartoons, television shows (as most children have), and the idea of school, and how school was portrayed always fascinated me. I loved school, and now I'm living the dream, by actually living at school. I cannot tell what will happen four years from now. I do not know if I will be an Anthropology major still, or even alive by the time graduation rolls around, but I know that being at university and having the wonderful professors that I have, will give me unimaginable oppurtunies to succeed any goal no matter what.
