Growing up in Illinois in a construction family, I had no choice but to become involved in the business. My parents, as well as my extended family, all worked construction. At the age of 15, my first job was working for small contractors. It was at this point that I developed a passion for carpentry and all things construction. This passion has stuck with me into my adult life and I became an Entrepreneur at age 17.

After two summers of hard work in construction, I wanted to start my own business and become my own boss. I decided to try my hand at roofing. Seventeen was too young to have an established reputation as a reliable contractor so my parents went with me to help bid jobs, back up my ability, and lend credibility to my business! During that first summer I completed 16 roofing jobs, 12 decks, and poured 4 concrete driveways! I ended the summer with an excellent portfolio and very good reputation. I returned to school and continued my education in the building trades.

After six years working in skilled trades I started my own construction company. From installing gutters, fascia, soffits, siding, and windows, my business expanded to include new construction, roofing, framing, custom kitchens, bathrooms, and more.

The hands-on, fast-paced experience of contracting, construction, and managing projects from start-to-finish led to my other passion — driving racecars. I moved to North Carolina after being hired to drive for NASCAR legend, Todd Bodine. When Bodine’s sponsorship money ran out I was back in the construction business in a new and exciting location with a much better climate.

Making North Carolina my new home was an easy decision. Along with the good weather and friends that I made on the racing circuit came an excellent environment to start a business and a family.
