Dr. Tre Michael

A formally trained higher educator and social science researcher, Dr. Tre Michael is a life-long ethical non-monogamist, a sexual assault survivor, and a consent violation prevention advocate. She is a passionate mom of two amazing sons, a bonus mom to two beautiful nieces, and sustains several types of intimate connections including deeply intimate platonic friendships, queerplatonic partnerships, and romantic partnerships.
She is fiercely family- and community-oriented and having been married, single, and involved in various type of intimate connections while practicing both monogamy and ENM/Polyamory, she is intentional about implementing "relationship innovation" which allows for customization that transcends the typical relationship "boxes" as defined by mainstream expectations and traditional norms.
Although she discovered her non-monogamy during her teens, the "conscious" phase of her ENM journey began in 2010, after having been married for 9 years. At this time, she dove head first into the online community via Facebook and became an admin of two polyamory-focused online communities.
As she connected with others on the journey, she discovered her interested in sex-positivity and BDSM and started to volunteer at various community events (e.g., Frolicon, SouthEast Leather Fest, Leather Leadership Conference, Sex Down South) and others.
She has also collaborated with and presented at various orgs in the ENM & polyamory community, such as the Poly Cultural Diversity Alliance (PCDA), creators of the Black Poly Pride conference and currently serves the BPP Co-founders as co-admin of the FB community. Past speaking engagements also include conducting community-based consent dialogues and delivering a consent workshop at the 2023 Sex Down South Conference, guest speaking and hosting on the 30 Minute Podcast and facilitating at the PCDA/NCSF Consent Summit.
