Lucrecia Pérez was a Dominican migrant murdered by four neo-Nazis in Spain in 1992. Her killing became the first case officially recognized by the Spanish courts as a racist and xenophobic crime, occurring in the same year the country was celebrating the 500th anniversary of the conquest and colonization of the Americas. Decades later, a Dominican filmmaker and migrant living in Spain revisits this event, imagining Lucrecia’s presence in the lives of other women who today cross borders in search of better living conditions. By tracing this story—one that continues to reverberate in the present—the film follows the enduring path of the colonial wound.
