Trevor Howarth
Howarth has over 25 years experience managing solicitors firms - both delivering and providing legal services for clients. Prior to his joining the Stobart Group, Howarth prepared criminal cases for the Prosecuting Solicitors Office and has managed several solicitors firms, dealing with many high-profile cases for celebrities and premier league footballers.
Howarth’s previous experience in the legal profession and experience of buying legal services on behalf of the group after becoming Legal Director in 2008 helped him clearly identify the duplication in administrative costs from solicitors’ practices. This, combined with the award of one the very first Bar Council licenses to instruct a barrister directly, Howarth drove the Stobart Group forward, radically overhauling the company’s purchase of legal services.
After establishing a niche panel of barristers in respect of all disciplines for its own legal needs, the Stobart Group, led by Howarth, turned its focus on developing a new model of purchasing legal services directly from barristers for its partners. After the success of this move, Howarth and the Stobart Group identified the natural progression of rolling out the model across the UK as a whole for both personal and commercial cases.
Howarth, who continues to direct legal services for the brand as a whole, estimates that the Stobart Group has saved in the region of 50 per cent directly instructing barristers for its legal necessities.
The bespoke service, where a fixed-fee is agreed up front provides the client with full transparency on the costs to be incurred.
The huge network of chambers, barristers and QCs sitting on the Stobart Barristers panel, which has been developed with Howarth’s intricate knowledge of the legal profession, allows client access to the very best practitioner for their individual case, wherever in the UK they are located.
