Trevor Lui
The big city kid from Toronto has always been surrounded by food and events for as long as he can remember. His mission? Take his nearly 20 years of experience and change the way people think before they plan to meet, eat and socialize. A first generation Canadian from a Hong Kong family of Chinese restaurateurs, Trevor was like any other kid that aspired to be a lawyer or teacher. But everywhere he turned, the roads always led back to his true passion for the food and event industry. Having landed a position at the historical Constellation Hotel with Regal International, Trevor quickly moved on to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre where his passion for food and events really started to take form having a hand producing some of the city’s biggest and most prestigious events. It was at this time where Trevor realized that working outside of boundaries is where he excels best. Check out his social media profile and you’ll experience notes that best exemplify his style; “Gen-Y sympathizer”,” aspiring mentor”, “change warrior.” At every opportunity, Trevor relishes and tries to learn the trade from every possible angle and now his focus is to reciprocate all the knowledge and impart funky, stylish and cutting edge methods to bring sustainability to every aspect of business. Social or corporate, Trevor relies on his passion and personality to broker effective relationships. Lessons learned in his times at the largest event venues, hotel chains and entertainment complexes producing and strategizing for the mighty and famous. And so whether it’s the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Buble or heads-of-state, Trevor always engages thinking outside conventional trends and is an advocate for change. His love will always be with food, drink and events but the target is now much bigger. Today, if not directing operations at the iconic International Centre, Trevor can be found wired to social media, on stage speaking at events or in classrooms, writing an article, appearing on television or at a boardroom strategizing sustainable ideas that challenge the status quo. Trevor’s passion is relentless, genuine and much like his vision and sense of style, both different and memorable. He believes in the thought process as much as the risk within the action…even when it comes down to accessorizing his socks and pocket squares to his signature bowties. You can be updated about Trevor’s work on his blog, Twitter & industry guest columns.
