“Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.” —Bill Gates
Look no further, you've entered the nerd zone.
I am a fan of technology, gaming, anime, and traveling. I was in the US Army stationed in Hawaii were I attained leadership skills as well as many life skills such as ambition, responsibility and integrity.
As a child I was in awe of the growing technology in video games as well as computers. I was very curious about what made these pieces of technology work. I recall getting into serious trouble with my mother when I would tear apart my PlayStation 2 and put it back together again. That preoccupation with tech and hardware is why I'm pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
I have approximately 6 months worth of experience using the Python computer language as well as your basic Windows system knowledge. In the past my friend and I built a gaming computer from pre-made parts so I do have experience/comprehension of hardware as well.
During my attendance at Texas Tech University, I had the pleasure of taking Introduction to Technical Writing. In this course I explored the importance of technical writing and the implications of ineffective writing. In this course I was required to work collaboratively with a group to create a technical document and presentation. Our group was required to analyze our audience and create a document using technical prose and professional diction to persuade our clients. During the project, utilization of Google Drive was essential and I became quite efficient in creating a slideshow presentation and technical document using this tool. Another skill I acquired in this course was how to revise a document to make it more globally accessible to international audiences. The greatest thing about this class was the fact that it is relevant and applicable to my future career in Computer Science when constructing a technical document for peers during research or a collaborative project!
In my future in the Computer Science field I hope to travel to foreign places given the chance. I have spent time out of the country, specifically 2 weeks in Tokyo, Japan. The opportunity to land a job working for a tech company like Google in a foreign office location would be a dream come true!
