Trey Serna

Houston

My name is Trey Serna and I'm an experienced writer/producer/host living in Houston, TX.

I'm proud to be part of the original team that launched NewsFix Houston, the first-ever anchor-less local newscast. NewsFix is a complete reinvention of television news, eliminating traditional on-air anchors and reporters. NewsFix is driven by strong writing, editing, graphics - and all voiced by one narrator.

I started as the Weekend Producer at NewsFix, but quickly worked my way up to Supervising Producer, where I oversee all Producers and Associate Producers. I'm also the fill-in Producer/Anchor for our morning show, Eye Opener. Before NewsFix and Eye Opener, I produced KIAH-TV's traditional newscasts.

I began producing in 2008 at the award-winning station, KRGV Channel 5 News in Weslaco, TX. I brought breaking news to viewers of the Rio Grande Valley. Each show allowed me to write on multiple topics, from hard news to consumer and entertainment stories. I also wrote and posted numerous stories to the station's website and social media channels.

Before television, I was a copy writer/editor for a website company, MPC Studios. Inc. I worked closely with clients to develop engaging copy for their websites. I also collaborated with the Project Manager and Art Director to make functional, user-friendly websites.
