Amber Nelms

My name is Amber Nelms, and I am the founder of Triangle ABA. I am both a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the mother of a child with autism, so my connection to this work is deeply personal. I understand how overwhelming it can feel when parents are searching for answers, learning about an autism diagnosis, comparing therapy providers, and trying to make the right decisions for their child. My own family’s experience with ABA therapy inspired me to create a place where children receive thoughtful clinical care and parents feel heard, respected, and supported.

At Triangle ABA, my team and I provide individualized, data-driven ABA therapy for children with autism and developmental disabilities. We take time to understand each child’s strengths, challenges, interests, communication style, and daily routines before developing treatment goals. Our purpose is not to change the qualities that make a child unique. We focus on removing barriers and teaching practical skills that can increase communication, confidence, participation, safety, and independence.

Depending on the child’s needs, therapy may focus on expressing wants and needs, managing transitions, interacting with others, following routines, developing self-care abilities, preparing for school, or reducing behaviors that interfere with learning and everyday life. We also provide occupational therapy, behavioral assessments, autism diagnostic services, parent training, and school readiness programs so families can access support that reflects different areas of their child’s development.

As a parent, I know that families need more than clinical terminology and progress reports. They need clear explanations, honest communication, practical guidance, and a care team they can trust. That is why we involve parents throughout the process and help them use supportive strategies during real routines at home and in the community.

Triangle ABA serves families from Raleigh, Garner, Cary, Durham, Apex, Wake Forest, Chapel Hill, Knightdale, Holly Springs, Clayton, Zebulon, Wendell, Fuquay-Varina, and surrounding Triangle communities. Our practice is clinician-owned and family-operated, allowing us to remain personally involved in the quality of care we provide.

My goal is to create the kind of supportive environment I wanted for my own family—one where children are valued as individuals and parents never feel like they are navigating the journey alone.
