I am working on a novel that I have tentatively entitled Cult Girl, which is basically young adult fiction for adults. I have several short stories in varying stages of development, and a screenplay that is in its first draft.
I also edit stuff and mess around with social media. I can do anything writing/reading/editing-wise. I am fearless at not knowing how to do something, teaching myself how to do it, and getting good at it really fast. I have worked in academic publishing in acquisitions, and have also done various freelance editorial work. Right now I am loving reading and editing for Anderbo.com, which publishes only the good stuff. Check it.
I really like reading these people: Amy Hempel, Raymond Carver, Alice Munro, Charles Bukowski, Vladimir Nabokov, Roberto Bolaño, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, Colette, Anaïs Nin, Walt Whitman, Joan Didion, Dale Peck, Lorrie Moore, Mary Shelley, David Foster Wallace, Cheryl Strayed, Woody Allen, Larry David, David Sedaris. I especially like tortured funny souls. I am a sucker for the pain of the mind.
My very expensive formal education that will never pay for itself:
The New School, MFA, Creative Writing-Fiction, 2008.
My thesis advisor was the one and only outspoken, radical, awesome Dale Peck.
