Tricia Merrick
Actor in New York
I was born and raised in the NYC area. Though I spent 10 years in another city, I found I couldn’t get back to NY fast enough. There’s something about the pace, energy and passion of New Yorkers that I truly missed.
When I was in my 30’s I had, to quote Oprah, an “AHA moment”. I realized that I was letting life pass me by and simply going along for the sake of getting along. I made a commitment then and there I wasn’t just going to be a Mrs. Nice Guy any longer. I was going to make an internal shift and commit to be fully myself. I became more passionate about the world, engaged and protective about those people and causes that were important to me, more engaged in my community, the arts and social issues, and yes, I’ve been known to talk back loudly to some TV news and drop the “f-bomb” from time to time.
I am drawn to characters who are interesting, loyal, driven, love fiercely and have a strong sense of humanity. Who knows what the future holds for me – that’s one of the things I love about acting. Every character is different and I love peeling back the layers of what makes them tick. And as this all unfolds, I can discover a fight for justice in every role I play, because every person has something that they are fighting for. The fun is in discovering what comes next.
