Trish Schnabel
Board Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA and Licensed Professional Counselor LPC in Arlington, VA, United States
Trish Schnabel is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (LBA, BCBA). With this combined training, she supports children, teens, and adults with mental health concerns, executive functioning challenges, and those on the autism spectrum. Her work addresses emotional needs and the behavioral skills required for relationships, coping, and daily life. She has more than 25 years of experience with individuals on the autism spectrum, and her counseling background includes depression, anxiety, life stressors, military families, codependency, and ADD/ADHD.
She currently works as an LPC providing individual, group, and family therapy for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, executive functioning difficulties, and relationship issues. She blends mental health counseling with evidence-based behavioral strategies, conducts clinical assessments, and creates treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs. She collaborates with other professionals to support holistic care and has led workshops on topics such as autism, executive functioning, stress management, and coping skills. Her combined expertise in counseling and behavior analysis allows her to work effectively with both neurotypical and neurodivergent clients.
Since 2010, Trish has also operated an ABA company. In that role, she offered therapeutic consultation for adults on the autism spectrum and individuals with developmental disabilities by interviewing families, observing daily routines, reviewing current supports, and identifying needed changes. She developed numerous consultation and behavior support plans and provided training for caregivers, staff, and parents. She also delivered one-on-one ABA therapy to children with autism, conducted behavioral assessments, recommended strategies for behavior change, implemented interventions, and supervised BCBA candidates and RBTs.
As a military spouse, Trish has volunteered for 20 years supporting military families and veterans through deployments, separations, relocations, and challenges related to combat stress and PTSD. She served on a state committee focused on reducing educational barriers for military children and received the Shield of Sparta and the Commander’s Award for Public Service. She remains active in community service and previously helped establish sensory-friendly movie showings that became a well-loved local program.
Her education includes a psychology degree from George Mason University, a Master of Education in Community Agency Counseling from Auburn University, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Graduate Certification from Pennsylvania State University. She also appeared on “Wheel of Fortune” in January 2020, winning $65,495 and a trip to Italy. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, concerts, time with loved ones, walking her Labrador Retrievers, and watching SEC football. These experiences continue to shape Trish Schnabel's life and work.
