Nada Trigui
Freelance writer and researcher in Tunisia
I am a Freelance writer and researcher based in Tunis.
I graduated in July 2017 from Tunis Business School with double major in Marketing and International Political Economy. My dissertation sheds the light on the issue of sovereignty over genetic resources for agriculture in the national legal framework, in a context of an economy opening to more Free Trade Agreements.
In the last two years, my work focused on shedding the light on the political economy of policy making, especially in the fields of agriculture and trade.
I have been active within civil society organizations and projects, with a specific interest in arts, justice and governance issues. In 2014, I participated in the elections observation process with "Mourakiboun"; and lately, in 2016, I was active member in a documentation project on the Transitional Justice Process in Tunisia with the "International Center for Transitional Justice".
In 2017, I joined a research collective as field research assitant, interviewing farmers about their perception of the policy monocrop production for export. I founded an association working on food sovereignty and the environment during the same year.
In late 2018, I worked as Parliamentary Reporter in the Tunisian parliament, closely following law making processes, with specific focus on energy and environment, agriculture and trade.
I now work as Journalist and researcher for Barr Al Aman, which a media and research center focused on analysing public policy.
I had the opportunity to publish in Monthly Review, about the transitional justice process, in the Middle East Eye regarding security, and environmental justice, and in Barr Al Aman Media and Research about topics related to agriculture and international trade.
I have great command of Arabic, French and English, and some Spanish.
Besides work and civic involvement, I have a great passion of music, which I taught for a while, as well as photography. Volunteering remains an activity I will always enjoy.
