Julián Troy G. Tarriela

An advocate for a more equitable world

Troy is a Filipino humanitarian and youth leader.

He attended San Beda College in 2018 for his secondary education in the humanities and social sciences and finished his Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in political science (with a minor in economics and literature) at the Ateneo de Manila University in 2022. Currently, he is a candidate for a Professional Doctorate in Jurisprudence at the University of the Philippines College of Law. Further, he also pursues continuing education at global institutions where he has finished executive courses from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, Harvard University, and the like.

As a student leader, he was formerly the Secretary-General of the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines; a board member of the International Youth Council (Philippines); the Cofounding Chairperson of Students' Rights and Welfare Philippines; and the National Convenor of the alliance of all the Jesuit Student Governments in the Philippines, Buklod Atenista.

As a young professional, he trained under a regional office of the Commission on Human Rights for his national service program, worked at a City Prosecutor's Office for his undergraduate practicum, and pursued a legal apprenticeship under the Supreme Court as well as other law firms for his clinical legal education.

Today, he practices community organizing, policy design, and strategic political consultancy for various civil society organizations, political entities, and public offices. He continues to advocate for sustainable development and human rights, among other progressive causes, while also pursuing his passions in music and poetry.
