Trevor Paxton

Chandler, AZ

On paper, my name is Trevor Paxton, but who I am is much more than that. I'm a journalist. I'm a multi-faceted musician. I'm a traveler. I'm a graphic designer. I'm a lover of food, drinks, art, good comedy and making memories with those that are close to me.

I'm also a huge basketball fan. I was born, raised, and currently reside in the Phoenix area, so naturally, the Phoenix Suns are my favorite team. Still, the sport just facinates me. I love studying it, including advanced statistics — which I don't always understand fully, but they still facinate me.

As a musician, I'm not limited to the music I listen to or the music I make; I am also a student of all things musical. My musical taste ranges from indie, folk, metal, hip-hop, electro house, classical and everything in between. Even in the genres I'm not particularly fond of (country being one of those), I can still find redeeming qualities and songs I like. I've composed a choral work (entitled "Night" — if you Google or YouTube "Trevor Paxton Night," it will likely show up) that I am incredibly proud of. I've written many songs, but in almost every aspect, it is my crowning acheivement — at least up until this point in my career.

I was also an editor at ASU's student newspaper, The State Press. I spent three semesters with the publication, and I wouldn't trade any experience I had there for the world. I started out as an unpaid arts and entertainment reporter, but quickly moved up the ladder. The next semester, I was the A&E editor, and most recently held the title of sports editor. I had many amazing experiences (highlighted by an on-camera interview with John Legend, an interview with William Fitzsimmons, an interview with Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, among many others) that shaped who I am as both a journalist and human being.

I am an advocate for many things, including human rights, rights for the developmentally and intellectually disabled, among many other things. I have worked for a nonprofit organization called the Arc of Tempe for over 3 and a half years. I've also worked very closely with Best Buddies Arizona in many capacities, most recently as a graphic designer.

I am always striving to better improve myself in even the smallest ways, so while I am proud of my work, I know I can always do better. My aim is to become the best I can be in any endeavor I take on, by any means necessary.
