Anusha Naicker
Filmmaker, Designer, and Writer in Cape Town, South Africa
ANUSHA NAICKER (a.k.a. TrulyNushi) is a Writer, Director, Editor, DOP, Graphic Designer and Animator – a digital artist. She's also a poet, a dab hand at applying her slightly manic imagination to her WACOM tablet and is a general know-it-all and smart-mouth.
A bit of a phenom (nerd!), she completed high school early and jetted off to study film in New York City at the tender age of 16 – and fell in love with all things related to making moving pictures. 20-odd years later, her love affair with visual art is even stronger – she literally has f-stops tattooed on her arm!
She's worked in many different capacities within the creative realm and created a large, diverse range of media (incl. concept videos, motion graphics, animated pieces, illustrations, graphic design pieces, books and manuals) for a range of different markets, audiences, formats, and end-uses including Film/TV-, Print- and web-distribution. She's created works for departments and initiatives of the SA Govt., academic institutions and schools, NPOs/PBOs, a multitude of creative companies and individuals, and several corporate entities. She finds joy** in using creativity to make the world a better place, and is passionate about human rights- and environmental protection, doing a fair amount of pro bono and cut-rate work to further those causes.
Nushi co-founded The Entertainment Factory with Rob Delport (the other love of her life), and was the multi-media production company's Creative Director for all of its 10 years of successful operation in Cape Town. Check out The Insider's Guide To The Entertainment Factory on her Behance portfolio to see examples of Nushi's older stuff.
Nush has also trained creative professionals, in Filmmaking & Production Basics, Camera Technique, Sound & Lighting How-Tos (workshops) and Film Theory & Practice, Editing Practice & Workflows, Key Framing & Basic Compositing, numerous pro apps from basic to advanced levels, incl. Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite (private lessons).
She loves filling her non-craft trivia bank too, learning new skills for their own sake, yet constantly finds that new knowledge impacting on her art in unexpected ways.
**TrulyNushi joy also means movies, TV, stand-up, and far too many video-games, fantasy/sf novels and cartoons for an adult to reasonably justify consuming.
